About The Club

The Charlotte Buckeyes Alumni Club.

The Charlotte Buckeyes Alumni Club is dedicated to uniting all fans of The Ohio State University, whether alumni or enthusiastic supporters, in the vibrant city of Charlotte. Our mission is to foster a sense of community among Buckeye fans, providing opportunities to connect, network, and share in the excitement of Ohio State events and traditions.

Through various social, professional, and philanthropic activities, we aim to create a supportive and engaging environment for all Buckeyes. Join us as we cheer on our beloved Buckeyes, build lasting friendships, and strengthen the Buckeye spirit in Charlotte!

Board Member Roles and Responsibilities

President

  • Oversees all alumni group activities

  • Sets short and long-term goals; tracks progress towards these goals and club tier

  • Organizes and leads Board Meetings

  • Acts as liaison to OSUAA, other alumni clubs (OSU clubs, Ohio Colleges, BIG clubs), and football game day venues

  • Serves as an ex officio member of all committees and supports events as needed

  • Assists with website, social media, volunteer recruitment, and member recruitment

Vice-President

  • Steps in for the President when they are absent or unable to serve, including assuming the Presidency if the position becomes vacant

  • Follows up with Board Officers on tasks, deadlines, and goals

  • Fills in for Board of Governors' responsibilities when needed (e.g., if a committee chair position is vacant)

  • Supports events, volunteer recruitment, and member recruitment as needed

Secretary

  • Records minutes for general and board meetings and distributes them to attendees

  • Collaborates with the Treasurer to maintain the Membership Roster and accurate records

  • Manages the production of club membership and business cards

  • Coordinates with OSUAA staff to create club emails and postcards

  • Provides OSUAA with an annual list of club officers, chairs, and captains

  • Supports events, volunteer recruitment, and member recruitment as needed

Treasurer

  • Maintains club financial records and presents monthly data to the Board

  • Manages revenue and expenses for all club accounts, events, fundraisers, and service projects

  • Updates the website store and Membership Roster

  • Works with the Board to approve and track reimbursement requests and submits post-event forms via DocuSign

  • Files annual tax forms through the IRS and shares completed forms with OSUAA staff

  • Supports events, volunteer recruitment, and member recruitment as needed

Scholarship Committee Chairperson

  • Acts as the liaison between the Club and the Alumni Scholars Program (ASP) representative

  • Collaborates with the Scholarship Committee to distribute applications, screen applicants, and provide recipient information to OSUAA

  • Identifies ways to recognize scholarship recipients (e.g., school visits, recipient dinners)

  • Works with the Board to determine scholarship amounts and the number of recipients

  • Supports events, volunteer recruitment, and member recruitment as needed

Special Events/Community Service Chairperson

  • Plans and executes Club events and service projects

  • Prepares and sends Club emails. Posts Club event details on website

  • Partners with OSUAA to offer events sponsored by OSUAA or other alumni clubs.

  • Responds to emails from the club website

  • Supports volunteer recruitment and member recruitment as needed

Social Media Chairperson

  • Manages alumni group social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)

  • Ensures communications use approved university logos, images, and follow brand guidelines

  • Tracks social media stats to evaluate the effectiveness of posts and increase positive exposure for the club

  • Maintains website communications, creating and sending group emails, and providing frequent updates (e.g., sponsor and photo sliders)

Game Day Captains (1 Captain per Game Day Venue)

  • Acts as liaison to their designated venue alongside the club president

  • Assists with Game Day planning

  • Manages volunteer sign-ups via Sign-up Genius to ensure appropriate coverage

  • Helps with membership table and scholarship raffle duties

  • Tracks Game Day statistics and reports to the Board

  • Ensures Game Day funds and paperwork are delivered to the Treasurer

  • Supports other club events, volunteer recruitment, and member recruitment as needed
